Growing up in Los Angeles, Lilli Elias developed a fascination with vintage fairs, drawn to the textures, patterns, and history of antique fabrics from the 1890s to the 1940s. Her love for textiles intertwined with her background in music and archival studies, leading her to launch Autumn Sonata in 2022. Inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s 1978 film of the same name, her brand reimagines vintage and antique fabrics for modern home goods.
Elias sources her materials from archives, both online and in person, creating unique towels, tablecloths, bath mats, and fabric shower curtains free from vinyl and plastic. By reprinting patterns, adjusting colors, and altering dimensions, she breathes new life into forgotten textiles, preserving their history while crafting pieces that feel fresh and personal.
Autumn Sonata’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its production. All products are crafted in limited quantities by a family-run mill in Portugal, using chemical-free, 100% cotton yarns. The mill, SMETA-certified for ethical practices, operates with zero wastewater, ensuring an environmentally friendly process from start to finish. Every fiber used meets the OEKO-TEX Standard, the organic cotton used adheres to the Organic Cotton Standard (OCS), reflecting the brand’s dedication to sustainable sourcing. Autumn Sonata’s commitment extends to packaging, with 98% recyclable materials and minimal plastic usage. Their printed materials are FSC-certified and printed using vegetable- and algae-based dyes, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to reducing environmental impact.
Bridging timeless tradition and contemporary design, Autumn Sonata transforms everyday home goods into functional, artistic pieces. Delve into the patterns and heritage of Autumn Sonata’s collections by visiting the WLLW Shop.
